What is AAAHC Accreditation?
While surgeons themselves may be board certified to perform plastic and reconstructive eyelid surgery, it is equally important that the operating suite in which the surgeon operates maintains quality of care standards. The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care is an independent organization that ensures that your ambulatory care center adopts best practices in health care and complies with nationally-recognized standards. Their accreditation is recognized by third party payers, medical societies, state and government agencies. Just as you should ask if your surgeon is Board Certified in the type of medicine he or she practices, you should also verify that his operating room is AAAHC Accredited.
